Ethical trade originates in the 1990’s and focuses to bring attention to the harsh conditions of workers producing clothes and shoes and so forth. However Fair trade and ethical trade are not the same thing. Fair trade focuses on farmers in poor developing countries who don’t get compensated enough for their product. Commodities like coffee, cocoa and tea fall into this category.
Trading with stamped fair trading coffee shows that the seller of the coffee supports farmers to get the quality price they produce.
